The son of a sailor (yes really, not just a Jimmy Buffet spoof) and a respiratory therapist, he got his start with a Pentax film camera in 1992. That quickly led to a curiosity of all things capturing light. Anything that moved incredibly slow or incredibly fast fascinated him, and continues to today.
Alex moved from Florida to North Carolina for college in 1999, but he brought all of his film cameras with him. Numerous experiments with 35mm film produced a ton of garbage prints (expensive endeavors at that time), but a ton of learning. A college course in pinhole photography, that included a huge amount of dark room time, provided Alex with a desire to understand all modes of editing. As he moved towards the digital era this dark room time proved priceless when learning Adobe Lightroom. Upon graduating, he explored a future in law enforcement but moved quickly back to hospitality.
That move led to a promotion that found Alex traveling the entirety of the United States for almost 10 years. Every trip, every off day found Alex with a camera in his hands hoaning his craft and engaging in what he calls photo therapy.
By 2017 Alex and his family moved to Telluride, Colorado for an unbelievable hospitality opportunity. At the same time he was enticed by a friend to get into wedding photography and things expanded yet again. Today Alex concentrates mainly on Landscapes mixed with some portraiture and cityscapes as travel and time permits. The hope is that this website gives you a glimpse into all of those facets. Enjoy!
