If it moves fast or not at all, I want to shoot it. In this area everything and everyone is meant to move, most of it very quickly.
The day my first camera was put in my hands, I was given a number of rolls of 35mm 100 speed film. At the time I didn’t fully understand what “speed” meant in terms of film. I took it quite literarily. As such I made my way to a state highway near the entrance of my neighborhood and started taking photos of cars as they went by. Imagine my surprise when that film was developed and I had mainly photos of blurs. It was at that time I first learned that I needed to learn the exposure triangle and how to pan the camera for slower shutter speeds. Today’s digital tech makes it a lot easier to make micro adjustments from one image to the next. These remain some of my favorite challenges.
