People and Portraits…

If you ever want to test your confidence, shoot a wedding, an engagement, or portraits in general.

I have to admit my entire life I’ve thrived under pressure. Which probably has to do with ADHD. I always waited to get assignments done until the last minute. In college I’d pull all nighters to write papers that I had a month or more to write. That pressure is nothing compared to shooting portraits, particularly weddings and engagements. For a long time I swore up and down I would not shoot weddings etc.. Always claiming, “It’s just not my thing…” That was only part of it. A huge part was my fear of screwing up and missing “The Shot”.

Along came my friendship with Lisa Marie Wright. She is an absolutely incredible wedding photographer (really anything portraits…and much more). She’s also a great friend who talked me into shooting a wedding with her. That led to several more. Her encouragement gave me the confidence to give it a go. Low and behold it turned out well! And trust me it’s highly emotional and high stress…but a hell of a lot of fun! Lisa, thanks for pushing me and thanks for being a solid friend and showing me the ropes. It means the world as does your continued support!
